WINTER LIGHTS 2021
Building on the success of the previous edition in 2019, which welcomed 4,500 visitors, the Community of Communes of Cattenom and Surroundings is proposing a new formula for its successful WINTER LIGHTS 2021 festival. It is no longer two but six evenings that will allow the public of the Citadel in Rodemack to enjoy a grandiose show, from Tuesday 23 to Sunday 28 November 2021, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On the theme of local tales and legends , come stroll in the park and walk the alleys for a contemplative stroll of about an hour.
A bespoke scenography created by a monument mapping expert : Damien Fontaine
A composer and director from Lorraine, Damien Fontaine has signed numerous multimedia shows over the past 15 years, in France and abroad, in front of more than 15 million people.
5 times winner of the Trophée des Lumières of the city of Lyon for his monumental creations as part of “La Fête des Lumières”, and director of the largest multimedia show ever given in Europe (in Bucharest in 2014), the artist has developed a unique know-how, which he will put at the service of the Citadel in Rodemack for a show entirely created for the occasion .
The Citadel Park, the main actor in these "dreams of a winter's night"
During this new edition of WINTER LIGHTS 2021, the park will be immersed in a dreamlike atmosphere. Stencils of light will reveal the unsuspected details of the architecture of the small chapel, a shadow theater will take over part of the ramparts, the remarkable trees and the arched passage will be highlighted in a cozy atmosphere.
Young and old alike will find the atmosphere of fantastic forests, where fairies and the magic of enchanters are born, and the Citadel will be the central character of this contemplative, moving and always surprising spectacle.
The high point of this route will be held at the level of the Officers’ Pavilion, whose main facade combined with the nearby ramparts will become a formidable theater of monumental images. For about ten minutes, projections will flow in cascades on the building that they will transform.
Surprising stories will take the public to the hamlet of Boler, with a couple in the grip of a pack of wolves, to Rodemack with Princess Cécilia and her fleet of pirate ships, or even to Volmerange-les-Mines in search of mysterious frogs…
Finally, a few days before the end of the year celebrations, the most famous of Lorraine legends will also be represented on the gigantic mapping: that of Saint-Nicolas and Père Fouettard.
Daniel Ackermann's “trees of life” to discover
Daniel Ackermann, painter-sculptor from Lorraine, will exceptionally open the doors of his studio in the heart of the Citadel park and exhibit his works, the “Trees of life, Trees of peace” at various places in the park. Light will flood these stainless steel sculptures, dedicated to peace in the world, tolerance between men, love between peoples, saving the planet and protecting the environment.
